Wick of Hope was founded by Andy and Selvia in London, Ontario, Canada, with a mission to create candles that are as safe and mindful as they are beautiful. Our journey began with a personal challenge: Andy’s sensitivity to traditional candles made from paraffin wax and overpowering fragrances, which triggered headaches and asthma. Determined to find a better solution, we set out to craft candles that would be healthier for both people and the planet.
First Burn Guidance: For the best experience, burn your candle until the wax melts across the entire surface to the sides of the container to prevent tunneling. This may take up to 2-4 hours, depending on the size of the candle.
Wick Maintenance: Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each burn, using a wick trimmer or scissors. This ensures a cleaner, safer burn and prolongs the life of your candle.
Materials Used: Our candles are thoughtfully crafted using eco-friendly coconut soy wax, renowned for its clean and sustainable burn. We use premium fragrance oils that are 100% phthalate-free, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Each candle features fsc-certified wooden wicks, both designed to provide a clean, even burn while prioritizing sustainability and quality.
While we currently don’t use essential oils due to potential safety concerns when burned (especially for pets and sensitive individuals), we do plan to introduce a line of essential oil-only candles in the near future. Stay tuned!
Yes, our candles are designed with safety in mind. We use eco-friendly coconut soy wax and fragrance oils free of parabens and phthalates, specifically formulated for safe use in candles. These provide a clean and subtle scent that many of our customers with pets, such as cats and dogs, appreciate.
We do not use essential oils at this time, as some can be harmful to pets when burned. Our candles feature FSC-certified wooden wicks, ensuring a clean, even burn without releasing harmful toxins. While our candles are pet-friendly, we always recommend burning them in well-ventilated areas and keeping them out of reach of curious pets.
