Frequently Asked Questions

Our candles are intentionally crafted for a naturally balanced aroma using essential oils or clean fragrance oils. While they may not be as overpowering as paraffin-based candles made with synthetic enhancers, they offer a cleaner, more mindful fragrance experience — better for your space, your well-being, and your air quality.

We get it — scent is personal.

That’s why we offer a flexible 30-day return and exchange policy for unused, unopened products in original condition.

If you're not in love with your candle, you’re welcome to return it — return shipping is simply the responsibility of the customer.

As a small brand, we stand behind our products and are here to help you find the one that feels just right. Questions? Reach out anytime at hello@wickofhope.com.

Yes — and we’re proud of it. Our candles are made with 100% natural coconut soy wax, FSC-certified wooden wicks, and fragrance blends that are always paraben-free, phthalate-free, and cruelty-free. No paraffin. No petroleum. No greenwashing — just clean ingredients you can trust.

Each 8oz candle burns for up to 45 hours, and each tealight up to 3 hours. Our crackling wooden wicks and clean-burning wax ensure you get the most out of every candle — with minimal soot and maximum ambiance.

For the best burn, let the wax pool reach the edges of the jar during the first use (about 2–4 hours for full-size candles). Always trim your wick to 1/4" before each use to ensure an even, clean burn and prevent tunneling.

Our candles are made with safety in mind — using clean-burning wax and toxin-free ingredients. While they’re safe to use around pets and babies, we recommend burning in a well-ventilated room and keeping candles out of reach at all times.

If your wooden wick isn’t staying lit, it may be due to excess wax buildup or an improperly trimmed wick. Follow these steps to fix it:

  1. Trim the Wick: Make sure the wick is trimmed to a height of 1/4" to 1/2". Wooden wicks perform best when kept short, and trimming helps maintain a steady flame.
  2. Remove Excess Wax: If the wick is being drowned by wax, carefully remove some wax from around the wick using a small spoon or butter knife. This allows the wick to receive enough oxygen to stay lit.
  3. Avoid Drafts: Ensure the candle is burning in a draft-free environment. Strong air currents can cause the flame to flicker and go out.

If these methods don’t resolve the issue, please contact us. We want to ensure you have the best experience with your candle and will assist you with a replacement under our guarantee if necessary.

While our candles don’t contain preservatives, we recommend using them within a year for the best burn quality. Although the candles won’t technically expire, their performance may decrease over time. We guarantee optimal burn quality for up to a year, and the batch code on the label allows us to look up the production date.

A rough or bumpy surface after burning is typical with natural blend of coconut and soy wax, which can cool unevenly. This texture variation does not affect the candle's performance or scent throw.

Our candles are made with natural ingredients and without chemical stabilizers, so small surface cracks can occur. These are common with soy and other natural waxes that won’t affect the candle’s performance or scent throw.

Factors like scent, shipping, and weather can cause cracking, but it won’t impact the burn. We inspect each candle carefully, and any with deeper imperfections are sold as “imperfect” items at a discount. Surface cracks will disappear after the first burn.

Tunneling Fix: If your candle begins to tunnel, you can rectify it by wrapping a layer of aluminum foil around the top of the candle and cutting a hole in the center to allow it to burn evenly for a few hours.

Sweating Explanation: Soy wax is sensitive to temperature changes, which can cause beads of oil to form on the surface, known as sweating. This is normal and does not affect the burn quality or fragrance of the candle. You can gently wipe the oil off with a tissue.

These are called glass adhesion spots — and they’re completely normal. They occur when natural coconut soy wax pulls slightly away from the glass during cooling, or due to temperature changes during storage or shipping.

They don’t affect the performance or scent of your candle in any way. We choose not to use chemical additives or stabilizers just to make the wax adhere perfectly, because your health and clean ingredients matter more than cosmetic perfection.

Think of it as a sign of a truly natural, hand-crafted candle — just the way it should be.
