If you live with a cat or a dog, you have probably already asked the question: is it actually alright to burn a candle around them? It is a fair thing to worry about, and most candle brands never address it. We built this collection for exactly that household. Coconut soy candles, hand-poured in London, Ontario, formulated with pet homes in mind.
Every candle is hand-poured in small batches using 100% coconut soy wax, no paraffin, no parabens, no phthalates. Love every scent, or we'll replace it within 30 days, even if burned.
Through our partnership with i=Change, every order funds real crisis support: for survivors of trafficking, children in conflict zones, and families facing malnutrition. You choose the cause at checkout.
and growing with every order
Powered by i=ChangeThis is the part that matters, and it is the part most brands skip. Every candle in this collection is made without the fragrance notes most often flagged as irritating to cats and dogs: eucalyptus, peppermint, cinnamon, and citrus. No paraffin, no phthalates, no parabens, no dyes. Just a coconut soy blend and a lead-free wick.
Cats are the more sensitive of the two. They lack some of the liver enzymes that break down certain compounds, and they groom constantly, so anything that settles on their coat gets ingested. That is why we drop the sharp botanicals entirely from this collection rather than simply using less of them. If you have been searching for candles safe for cats, this is the honest version: a cleaner burn and a fragrance list built around the notes cats tolerate best.
Dogs have roughly forty times the scent receptors we do, so a candle that reads as pleasant to you can be overwhelming at their height. These are formulated at a gentler throw, without the concentrated oils that tend to bother them. Good for the dog lying at your feet while the candle burns on the shelf.
We say pet-conscious rather than pet-safe, and the distinction is deliberate. No burning candle is risk-free, and any brand promising you otherwise is overselling. What we can tell you is exactly what is in it and exactly what we left out. You make the call for your own home, with the full ingredient picture in front of you.
Keep the flame somewhere they cannot reach or knock it, which usually means high and away from tail height. Burn in a room with airflow rather than a closed space. Trim the wick before each light so it burns clean instead of smoking. And never leave a lit candle in a room with an unsupervised pet. Simple habits, and they matter more than any label.
Hand-poured in small batches in London, Ontario, by a husband-and-wife team. Every candle funds a donation through our charity partners, so the one you burn does a little good on its way out.
We avoid absolute safety claims, because no candle is a controlled environment. What we can show you is the formulation: no eucalyptus, peppermint, cinnamon or citrus, a coconut soy wax blend, phthalate-free fragrance, and a lead-free wick. That is a materially gentler option than a standard paraffin candle. Burn it with airflow and out of reach.
Same answer and same formulation. The scent throw is deliberately gentler, which tends to suit dogs given how much stronger their sense of smell is than ours.
Eucalyptus, peppermint, cinnamon and citrus. These are the notes most commonly flagged as irritants for cats and dogs, so we removed them from this collection entirely rather than reducing them.
A coconut soy wax blend, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and lead-free cotton or wood wicks. No paraffin, no parabens, no dyes.
Around 45 hours for the 8oz size, if you trim the wick before each burn.
